ARTWORK & ARTIST ELIGIBILITY:

Exhibiting artists must be residents of Tennessee.

Visual artwork of all sizes and mediums will be considered.

All artwork must be original to the artist.

Submitted artwork should have been completed in the last three years.

Artwork should pertain to the landscape or cultural elements that make up the Upper Cumberland region of Tennessee.
ARTWORK SALES:

Artwork may be for sale or not for sale, at the discretion of the artist.

There is no commission on artwork sales for this exhibition. Artists may retain 100% of their sales.

All sales will be handled through Cookeville Art Studio & Gallery. Artists will be paid by the gallery after the exhibition comes down. All sold artwork will remain on display in the gallery until the end of the exhibition.
APPLICATION PROCESS:

Artists must pay an application fee for their work to be considered. The fee is $10 for Art Round Tennessee members and $20 for non-members.

Artists may submit 1-3 pieces of artwork

This is a juried exhibition. All artwork will be submitted to a blind jury and scored based on overall quality, craftsmanship, originality, and adherence to the exhibition theme and guidelines.

Artists will be notified of acceptance by January 22, 2025.

MEET THE JURORS:
Sarah Montrond grew up on the south shore of Massachusetts. She received her BFA in Painting and Art History with a minor in Glass from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2019 with departmental honors. She is a glass artist and painter who connects nature to craft. She draws inspiration from backpacking long trails, such as the Appalachian Trail.
She has completed programs such as the Pittsburgh Glass Center’s Technical Apprenticeship, StarWorks’ Glass Resident Internship, Pilchuck Glass School’s Fellowship, and Lexington Glassworks’ Resident Assistantship. Sarah has completed residencies at the Worcester Center for Crafts and Salem Art Works. She has been awarded scholarships for craft schools such as Pilchuck Glass School, Penland School of Craft, Tulsa Glassblowing School, and Haystack Mountain School of Craft. Her work has been showcased in prestigious national and international exhibitions, including the Glass Art Society Member Exhibition Connection at Wilhelm Hallen in Berlin, Germany. Notably, she was a finalist in the International Competition Milano Vetro 35 at Castello Sforzesco in Milan, Italy. Sarah is currently enjoying her time in a year-long residency at the Appalachian Center for Craft in Smithville, TN. Sarah Montrond Glass is handmade at Appalachian Center for Crafts, TN
Dr. Bevin Butler is the Assistant Professor of Art History at Tennessee Tech University. She holds a BA and MA in Art History from the University of North Texas and a PhD in Art History, Theory, and Criticism from Arizona State University. Her research interrogates the historic associations of textiles with femininity, the historiography pertaining to nuns’ contributions to the arts in the Middle Ages, and ways in which embroideries and tapestries produced by nuns subverted traditional church hierarchies. As the sole art history professor at Tennessee Tech, Bevin teaches courses ranging from large sections of the Gen-Ed Art Appreciation to upper-level History of Printmaking, Medieval Art History, History of Craft, and History of Design.
Mitchell White is a native of Livingston, Tennessee. He earned his BS in Art Education at Tennessee Technological University, with a focus in painting under the instruction of Professor Christine Koczwara. He is an art instructor at Cookeville High School in Cookeville, Tennessee. His work focuses on his hometown of Livingston, and the Upper Cumberland region of Tennessee.
